Wood Preservation Methods
The Biological research of wood and it’s renewable material is what is referred to as wood science. In other words, the term wood science can also be known as wood technology. As the name implies the preservative is made of copper products. There are a few disadvantages of this method as a mode of wood preservation. The concentration of the chemical that will be used to treat a piece of wood will depend on the where it is going to be used and the molecular structure of the wood. The concentration level of the chemical will be different for two pieces of wood where one is used above ground and the other close to a water body.
Many methods are being invented to protect the wood, and one of them is the copper metal method. This method, unlike the ACQ, is friendly to the metal fasteners and its gaining popularity very fast. This process is what in other words called the micronized copper wood preservative. A high-pressure liquid that has the copper metal mixed in it is driven into the wood. The process eliminates the need to dissolve the copper as is done in earlier copper-based preservatives. The characteristics of the wood are highly improved and the when this process is used to treat wood. The wood products protected using this method last longer.
Termites and fungal decay are just a few among the many problems wood treated from this method are protected against. Unlike other methods of treatment this method is not corrosive. Extensive research over a period of 10 years has proven the effectiveness of this science as one of the best wood preservation methods.
